The Local Literacy Struggle

Many people believe that, because of the United States is a developed nation, literacy is not an issue for its residents. However, across the United States, 50% of the population are considered poor readers, and 20% of the population cannot read above a 4th grade reading level. Adults with low reading levels are much more likely to be incarcerated or live in poverty.
