LVMPC has been bringing free, research-based literacy services
to West Virginians since the 1980s. We are a 501c3 non-profit that has literacy programs
for everyone - infants, preschoolers, students, adults, caregivers, and senior citizens.

Our services are available to both native English speakers and English Language Learners. We work with adult learners to strengthen their abilities to read, write, speak, and listen.

We want to thank the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for supporting our classes. LVMPC is excited to share the Virtual Spring 2023 Class Schedule. These classes are free for adults in Monongalia and Preston Counties. You can attend as many classes as you want and it's okay if you miss a few sessions. Team LVMPC had the very best time learning crucial literacy skills through play with all of our littlest readers at our Baby Book Bag Club's Earth Day Playdate! MPLS Children's Librarian Miss Ruth led our learners in a highly imaginative readaloud of the fantastic book "Not A Box", then families explored activities and resources comprising the following materials in our Spring 2023 Book Bags:- Beautiful recycled book totes 🛍️- Build your own life cycles sensory bins with a choice of six different creatures and wooden play utensils paired with Jessica Spanyol's "Rosa Explores Life Cycles" 🦗- Adopt a painted lady caterpillar with popup butterfly hatching bins to extend that life cycle learning with real experience 🦋- Wildflower seeds from Mountain SOL paired with Todd Parr's "The Earth Book" 🌱- Create your own recycled art materials masterpiece paired with the book "Not A Box" 📦- Build your own dirt pudding cups in recyclable seed starting planters with shovel spoons paired with the book "Yucky Worms" 🪱- Plastic ant food picks from our Ants Picnic Table to help make future snack times story times re: any team work! 🐜Our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation goes out to the Dollar General Foundation and Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust for supporting us in offering these free community literacy resources! ...
