LVMPC has been bringing free, research-based literacy services
to West Virginians since the 1980s. We are a 501c3 non-profit that has literacy programs
for everyone - infants, preschoolers, students, adults, caregivers, and senior citizens.

Our services are available to both native English speakers and English Language Learners. We work with adult learners to strengthen their abilities to read, write, speak, and listen.

Help Adults Reach Their Goals by Volunteering as a TutorMake a real difference in someone's life by helping adults improve their English or basic literacy skills. As a tutor, you'll meet with your learner for at least one hour a week and report their progress monthly.No experience? No problem! We provide Pro-Literacy training, materials, and lesson plans to get you started. Once trained, you’ll be a certified Pro-Literacy tutor.Interested? Join us for a Zoom info session, where you'll fill out your application and complete all necessary paperwork.
